Luchi is a wife, mother, nurse and social media influencer based in Des Moines, Iowa. Almost 9 years ago, she arrived in the United States all by herself to study. That single decision has been the most life-changing event that has gone on to shape the rest of her life!
Since being in the United States, Luchi has gone on to complete a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from the prestigious, North Dakota State University, famously known as “Home of the Bisons!”. While completing a highly competitive nursing degree, she was very involved on campus and served in many student leadership roles.
After graduating college in 2017, Luchi got married to the love of her life, Rafiki, and started her dream job as an ICU nurse in one of the top cardiac surgery units in the country. In 2019, Luchi and Rafiki welcomed their first child, Kamole.
Luchi’s journey as a social media influencer began in July 2015. One hot summer day, She pulled out her camera and recorded a makeup tutorial which she posted to youtube. The video only got a miserly 50 views, but she did not let that stop her. She believed in herself and continued to make videos - today, her highest viewed video is a video titled “how to grow natural hair” which has over 2 million views!!
Through her natural hair, beauty and lifestyle videos, Luchi continues to inspire over 100 thousand women - her loyal subscribers, the Luchi Gang, to chase their dreams passionately and live a happy life.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. My husband, Rafiki, is Congolese, so I'm also Congolese by marriage!
WHERE DID YOU MEET YOUR HUSBAND?
Rafiki and I met in 2012 on my first day at NDSU.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE US?
I came to the US 10 years ago.
WHEN DID YOU GO NATURAL?
My natural hair journey began in March, 2013. Hands down one of the best decisions I've ever made!
WHY DID YOU START SOCIAL MEDIA?
After I went natural, a lot of my friends saw how my hair was thriving and started asking for tips on how to care for their hair. I created a youtube channel to teach them how they too, can have long, healthy natural hair.
WHAT IS YOUR MAIN GOAL?
My goal is to inspire and empower women, especially black women, to make the most of life, to embrace their inner and outer beauty and to live out their fullest potential!
